Byronic Hero Essay

A Byronic Hero is an interesting figure of English literature, he posses many qualities not usually associated with heroes. Some of the normal hero qualities he has are, smartness and strength. Some of his other qualities are he's isolated from people, he's a rebel, moody and passionate, arrogant, and emotional.

Now since I got this topic from somebody online and I'm not sure to what I'm exactly supposed to be doing I will assume that I should give an example of a Byronic hero. So who did I pick for my Byronic here example, well I had lots of possibilities. A few of which included Bart Simpson, a hobo, Flipper the dolphin, and curious George. Well after reviewing those choices I decided none of them were good enough although all had certain Byronic qualities. So I decided that I would make up a character inspired by curious George, and my love of monkeys.

My character who we shall call Bojo (pronounced bow-Joe) is a monkey from the future that had experiments done on it's brain to make it smarter but they went wrong and he got smarter but also had them affect his happy monkey personality. The future people then decided to send him back in time for some unknown reason, and he ended up here. Bojo quickly had to adapt to our time and out society. This combined with his brain experiments made him and angry monkey, also since he was smarter than all other monkey he was arrogant, and mean. Moreover, since he was mean and didn't fit in with the humans or monkeys he was a loner. Bojo had a tough life set out for himself, he found it hard to blend in with our society and found it very hard to get a job since nobody wanted to hire a monkey. He was to smart to simply be able to live out side like most monkeys and had no friends or family, so he had to resort to a life of crime to pay for his house and other human luxuries. Bojo quickly got caught up in his life of crime and soon the cops were after him, so he had to wonder from town to town never able to stay more than a week for fear they might catch him. This made him a wanderer and very resentful towards the happy monkeys.

So let's review, Bojo was smart, loner, wanderer, mean, time traveler, rebel, monkey, and cute, all qualities of a Byronic hero. Which is why Bojo is the perfect example for a Byronic hero and quite frankly, I am astonished that no body else in this class thought of him. They should be quite ashamed of themselves and try a bit harder next time.
